Weddings
I am a member of Rites and Rituals Scotland , and am authorised by the Registrar General of Scotland to conduct legal weddings in Scotland.
Your wedding ceremony should be as special and unique as you are. Its not just the boring bit before the dinner and the party. This is where the magic happens and you both pledge your love to each other and be each other’s “person” for the rest of your lives. Now, that’s a pretty big deal so why don’t we celebrate it joyfully . Of course, there are legal requirements that we need to include, but these can be blended seamlessly into the ceremony so you can have the perfect day that resonates with you both and engages your guests.
So, if you’re hoping for a wedding ceremony that feels truly yours, I’d be absolutely delighted to help you bring that vision to life. For me, every ceremony is like a tapestry, woven with the threads of your journey together: your stories, your humour, and all those wee things that make you both unique.
Funerals and Memorials
Saying goodbye to a loved one is an incredibly difficult and often over whelming time. There is so much to think about in a relatively short space of time. It is important that you are able to commemorate their life in a way that feels right, honouring their personality, and the life that they led, while providing comfort to the loved ones left behind.
It is also important to realise the autonomy that you have when arranging a funeral or memorial. While I am always pleased to work on the recommendation of funeral directors, I am also happy to be contacted by the family directly and have a wee chat , just to see if I’m the right person for you.
I will sit with you , listen to memories and stories of your loved one and use these to craft a beautiful ceremony that is bespoke and authentically tells your loved one’s story.
I can include elements of spirituality or faith, if these mean something to you. Or if they don’t, that’s fine too and we can leave them out. Entirely your choice.
I can also include some extra touches , including toasts, and am happy to help you choose poems or readings and help you to pick the perfect pieces of music.
Sometimes , it may be that a loved one would like to speak at the ceremony too, in which case I will tailor the ceremony to ensure they are able to do that comfortably in the allocated time. If you would like to write a few words of your own, but would prefer not to speak, I’d be delighted to read these on your behalf .
Direct cremations are being advertised everywhere these days. However, that’s not to say that your loved one needs to go without a fitting memorial, either at the time or on a later date. Together we can create something that is truly memorable, be that in your garden at home, at a favourite place or even in the pub!
Interment of Ashes
When the time feels right to scatter or inter your loved one’s ashes, I will work with you to create a fitting tribute for that final goodbye, whether I conducted the funeral or not.
